The Golf GTI is a true icon, a car with a continuous line that connects it to the past. However, there's a problem with what's offered in the present. Even though the GTI 7 is as fresh as lemons, it's still offered with that tartan base seat design. Retro? More like dated, since most hot hatches have red seatbelts and generally look like a training shoe.
The guys at Carlex Design Europe decided to do something about that and have taken the 2013 Golf GTI to the next level. A new take on the MkI check pattern is combined with black leather and dark gray alcantara for the centers of the seats.
We think Carlex has immaculate taste and excellent attention to detail, so not surprisingly they have nailed this project. No other Golf 7 GTI project we know of has such a cool leather-clad dash or quilted doors with red accenting. We'd deduce points for some of the changes to the steering wheel, but they still get the top score for execution.
