In case you didn't know already, James Glickenhaus is a very lucky petrolhead that owns a pretty awesome collection of both old and new exotica, including an assortment of Ferrari racers. However, the Hollywood director and investment banker is making progress with building his very own supersports machine dubbed the SCG 003. James' pet project is managed by Paolo Garella and it will be built in collaboration with Italian design studio GranStudio.

But until the finished product will be ready for unveiling at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and for competing in the Nurburgring 24 Hours, there's lots of design work to do to dress the carbon fiber skeleton of the SCG 003.

The ultra rigid and lightweight carbon fiber chassis is just the starting point of the race-bred machine expected to tip the scale at around 725 kilos. Even though technical information is a bit vague at the present moment, Glickenhaus has previously stated that a twin-turbocharged V6 engine will send some 500 hp to the rear axle.

Unfortunately, its displacement hasn't been mentioned, along with whether the mill will be developed in-house or sourced from a mainstream manufacturer. Early sketches suggest that the aesthetics of the SCG 003 will feature a three-wing silhouette and draw inspiration from LMP1 prototype endurance racers.

Exterior styling is a matter of form following function in you take into account that Paolo Catone, a well-known Formula 1 and Sport Prototypes engineer, will support the Glickenhaus to the Aerodynamic development. "Now that I have seen the final design, the chassis and the mechanical development, I am very excited and happy that we will be exploring new ideas, bringing LMP1 design to GT cars," declared Jim about his new baby.

Lowie Vermeersch, CEO of Italian design studio GranStudio, added that "this type of project is any designer's dream. Not only it is an exciting project that allows to design a car inside out, but it also offers this rare and beautiful condition in which you develop a full car with just a small team of passionate experts that fit together in a room."
