With all the pranks involving sportscars and supercars these days, one could easily imagine the image above, which shows a giant teddy bear getting a shotgun ride in a C7 Corvette Stingray Convertible, has been taken for the sheer fun of it.
While there’s no denying that seeing our generously-sized fluffy friend make small talk with the ferocious sea creature brings a huge smile on our face, there’s a higher purpose to the job.

The feat took place yesterday, September 9, in Manhattan and this was Chevrolet’s way of celebrating National Teddy Bear Day. The giant toy enjoyed the charms of the LT1 V8 on its way to the Memorial Sloan Cancer Center, where it was handed over to the Sunshine on Wheels program. This helps children undergoing chemotherapy treatment at the hospital in New York.

The Corvette may be spacious for a sportscar, but it could transport the entire teddy bear load for the day - Chevrolet donated an additional 48 toys to the program. The teddy bears were offered to the children by three teamGM members, each of them being a cancer survivor.

The army of teddy bears was transported in a 2015 Chevy Suburban, wearing gold ribbons as a sign of recognition for the National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

In case you were wondering, the giant teddy bear, which wore the seatbelt, measure 51 inches (1,295 mm) in width. For the sake of comparison, we’ll mention the Corvette Convertible measures a bit less than that in height.
