GhostBusters' Ectomobile Sold on eBay
The original Ectomobile used by Universal Studios during filming the movie was recently sold on eBay for $45,100, Elite Choice reported. Though we cannot help wondering who is the vehicle’s new owner, bold enough to take it out for a spin, the bidder’s identity was not yet revealed.
The car was originally a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor limo-style car, transformed by Dan Akroyd’s character into the perfect mean of transportation for the team’s ghost-capturing equipment and transporting the three Ghostbusters through New York City.
The white car is painted with the trademark red and white no-ghosts-allowed GhostBusters logo, though the shooting script for the movie described the Ectomobile as being black, with purple and white strobe lights that gave the vehicle a "purple aura".
However, the Ectomobile is never named on-screen, and the only time the word is used was in the song "Cleaning Up The Town" from the film's soundtrack. The vehicle also had a miniature replica mass-produced as a children’s toy, which sold more than 1 million units worldwide.
