Germany Planning Complete Invasion of Britain - VW May Buy Lotus!
We were just as shocked as you must be reading this, but it’s not that we doubt the accuracy of the information, it’s just that we don’t know what VW would do with Lotus. They already have Porsche and Lamborghini which, until now, seemed to have been enough to cover the German giant’s sporting needs.
It was even speculated at one point that VW would buy DBR Hicom and its subsidiary, Proton, but nothing materialized. The connection between DBR Hicom and VW is already there, as they already own a small portion of their shares and also DBR produce the Passat, in Malaysia.
This piece of news comes right out of the blue, as the current boss of DBR Hicom (and Proton implicitly) said they would continue to support Lotus, having already invested £100-million this year, while planning for an additional £100-million to be invested next year - things just don’t add up!
We hope this turns out to be no more than a rumor, as the Germans have already ‘conquered’ most of the British car makers, only the smallest of which remaining independent. We also say that the VW touch is not suitable for Lotus, a very atypical car company, with very strong values and a strong sense of pride - VW have already made Lamborghini lose some of its charm and lunacy (their core values) and we really wouldn't want Lotus to go down that road.
