Georg Pacher Fiat 500 PRC-Abarth Race Car Is Simply Wonderful

Why do Fiat and MINI build retro cars? Because they inspire people to do insane things with them, things that boggle the mind. Check out Georg Pacher's creation, a Fiat 500 Abarth unlike any other in the world.

The machine is based on the normal Fiat 500, the modern day one. However, it's been customized in almost every way imaginable. First of all, we don't think there are that many Fiat parts on this car. The chassis must be all made of tubular steel and probably only pushrod suspension would fit under there. All the design elements of the 500 have been moved closer to the ground, but the iconic roof shape is still in place, which is nice. Around the back, we see that it has a gigantic wing, characteristic of hill climb vehicles.

The fact that the air intakes are on the side suggests this is a rear-driven machine, and rumor has it the engine is a small V8 built using two Suzuki Hayabusa inline-4 mills. Take that Ariel Atom!

The V8 breathes fire out the back through four custom motorcycle engines that sit on top of a large air diffuser. The body is pretty sweet too, one big piece of racing tech rather than many pieces of metal like a regular 500 has. Clearly, this is one of the most unique race cars ever built.

Georg Pacher is a specialist in making these kinds of insane speed machines, having based his creations on classic Fiats as well. We understand that he recently passed away, so we wish to express our condolences and at the same time our respect for his work.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
