The stars of Citroen's stand in Geneva are undoubtedly the C4 Cactus and the new C1 minicar, but funky designs can only get you to a point, beyond which you need cars for real people, some of which have very particular family needs. Taking cues from the likes of Audi's A4 allroad quattro, the French have also designed their own version, based on the C5 they launched back several years ago.
Available in two body styles, sedan and wagon, the C5 CrossTourer is a go-anywhere family car that probably delivers a more enjoyable everyday driving experience than an SUV. With extra underbody protection and suspension increase over the standard version, the C5 is just like the Skoda Octavia Scout, also revealed this week in Geneva. However, there is one major difference: Citroen does offer optional Hydractive suspension, which can increase the ground clearance, similar to the air suspension option on the Audi A4 allroad.

The system can add 60 mm at up to 10 km/h, an extra 40 mm up to 40 km/h and plus 15 mm up to 70 km/h. With that much added height and a very spacious boot, you have to ask yourself whether your family would be better off with one of these instead of an SUV.

Available in two trim levels, Millenium and Exclusive, and powered by diesel engines ranging from 115 bhp to 200 bhp, the C5 CrossTourer is already available for order from €31,950 and will arrive in dealerships soon, but you can already check it out in our live photo section below.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
