The Dacia Lodgy is not an exciting concept car or a new sedan with internet connectivity and a million drive aids or a thousand horsepower. It’s just a people move that’s 4.5-meters long and will transport five or seven people. Prices in Europe will start from just EUR9,900, which makes it quite the bargain if you can live with a boring but practical car.
If all but the front two seats are removed, the Lodgy MPV offers a monstrous loading area of 2,617 liter, but only 207 liters are left if all seven seats are installed.
Just about the most interesting feature on the car is the new brand-new multimedia system priced at EUR430, which comes with MEDIA NAV incorporates radio, auxiliary inputs, Bluetooth connectivity and satellite navigation in a 7-inch touch screen display.
The engine range the Dacia Lodgy comes with includes two petrol engines, a 1.6-liter MPI and an all-new 1.2 TCe with 115 PS, and two diesels, the dCi 90 and dCi 110.
In Geneva we found that, interestingly enough the struts that hold the bonnet up are hydraulic, not one of those cheap bars that always get you dirty. This is an old-school car that takes the MPV back to basics, but in a good way.
The car will be built in Morocco, and it has undergone some 1.9 million kilometers of testing before it was launched, demanding climates and conditions.
This is only a car, but it's a car for people who need/can afford 'just a car'!
