Trial bikes are definitely a lot of fun. Their riders are (and need to be) extremely fit and coordinated individuals without the fear of broken bones. One such rider is Frenchman Thierry Raoul, who has been let loose in a proper trial environment in the GasGas TXT-e (prototype) electric motorbike.
With its very low weight (especially for something carrying around batteries) of 67Kg and its 14hp electric motor, it’s more than capable of tackling the rough stuff, with the advantage of being almost completely silent, with such bikes usually having noisy two-stroke engines.
The battery is fully recharged in one hour and twenty minutes, after which you’re set for another 45 to 120 minutes of off-road fun while traversing obstacles which no other vehicle can handle. With the lack of noise, decent power for its weight and low-down torque from the electric powerplant, this looks like a very competent trial bike, probably even more competent than some petrol-powered bikes.
