G-Power Supercharges BMW M3 to 720 HP [Photo Gallery]

The upcoming new generation of the BMW M3 is on every car aficionado's lips these days and turbocharging, be it in a dual or a triple form, is the word here. But the M3 was never about supercar-level performance, focusing on feeling, linearity and balance instead and while a turbocharged engine can offer these assets, they will never be its top qualities.

Well, here’s where German tuner G-Power steps in to rescue the spirit of the M3. Want more power, but with a linear delivery and a proper soundtrack? No, problem, G-Power has used its famous supercharging tricks on the outgoing M3.

The E92 M3 coupe you see in the adjacent images has had its 4.0-liter V8 taken to 4.8 liters via a custom crankshaft and pistons coming from Mahle. G-Power installed its SK III ASA T1-723 (no, this is not a Russian tank designation) supercharger package and also played with the air intake and exhaust. The result of all this tech play? 720 hp and... an unmentioned torque figure.

Thus, the G-Power M3 now covers the 0 to 62 mph sprint in 3.7 seconds (the rest of the acceleration figures are probably even more impressive, but they haven’t been released yet), while the top speed sits at 205.5 mph (330 km/h).

Like we said, the M3 was always about balance and handling, so G-Power installed a Clubsport adjustable suspension, as well as in-house 20-inch Silverstone Diamond wheels that use Michelin tires. The car has also been lightened by using carbon fiber for the hood and boot lid and there’s also a front bumper lip.

Of course, one can’t truly talk about balance and handling unit the car is driven, but on paper this creation sounds extremely tempting...
