BMW already stunned the world when it came up with the N57S engine. If you're not familiar with their engine codes, that's the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder tri-turbo mill powering the M550d and M50d models out there. However, the potential of multi-stage turbocharging and variable turbines is far greater.
The guys from G-Power are exemplifying this quite clearly. In standard guise, the powerplant above makes 381 HP and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque, enough for any car out there. That's probably also why BMW is using it on a variety of models, from 5 Series sedan and Tourings to SUVs.

In the G-Power version though, the N57S is taken up to no less than 435 HP and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque thanks to the D-Tronik 5 V1 module. That's right, their latest finding takes care of the 'diesel power'.

The M550d models are only available with xDrive to cope with the impressive amounts of torque. Therefore, the M550d Touring xDrive tuned by G-Power can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds and go up to a top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph). That's if you removed its speed limiter previously, of course.

In that regard, G-Power also has a module that allows you to derestrict your car. In theory, that should make the 5er a 300 km/h (186 mph) top speed car. In theory, that is as those numbers were never achieved in the real life.

Either way, it's good to know that safety was in the center of attention while developing this kit. The German tuner claims that "the D-Tronik 5 V1 module releases the additional power only after the correct cooling water temperature determined by BMW has been reached."

Furthermore, in stop and go traffic, the power levels are turned back to their stock values to protect the car. On the other end of the stick, if the oil temperature reaches extremely high values, the power output is reduced to stock conditions.

The price for the D-Tronik 5 V1 kit is €2,758.8 while the speed limiter removal kit will set you back another €1,190. Both of them are available as of right now.
