G-Power has developed a new kit for the BMW X5 M, and it brings massive improvements in the powertrain department.
When “Power” is in the company's name, the employees probably feel an urge to keep improving. In any field, improvement is a good thing, even if you have developed a kit to bring the X5 M's twin-turbo V8 to 700 HP. Time to detail their new package.
Bone stock, a BMW X5 M provides 575 HP and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft). The previous kit from G-Power raised the output to 700 HP, while torque grew to 905 Nm (667 lb-ft).
At this point, you would expect to have enough power from an SUV which has proven itself to be quick. But a team at G-Power thinks differently, so they raised the output to 750 HP, and peak torque has been increased to 980 Nm (723 lb-ft).
If customers do not agree with the statement written above, but still want more power from an X5, G-Power offers kits which provide 650 HP or 700 HP, upon request.
G-Power's engineers have achieved this result by fitting a custom exhaust system, made from titanium, along with other mods. We are writing about a set of larger turbochargers, a pair of stainless steel downpipes, and the “traditional” Bi-Tronik software upgrade, which has reached the third version of the second generation. By the way, the new exhaust saves 23 kilograms (50 lbs).
The tuned BMW X5 M from G-Power is now capable of running a standing quarter mile (402 meters) in 11.5 seconds. The figure might not be impressive compared to a drag car, but this car is street legal and is also an SUV which weighs 5.016 lbs (2.275 kg). Once you look at the numbers, their result is stunning, as is the new top speed of this model, which now exceeds 300 km/h (186 mph).
The rather discreet tuning package is completed by a set of 23-inch Hurricane RR forged alloy wheels, fitted with performance tires, and the X5 M's road-holding ability is improved with a GX6M-RS coilover suspension kit.
