Frankfurt 2013: Skoda Yeti Facelift

The Skoda Yeti was a nice car to own but an awful one to look at. With two seats of lights at the front and the side profile of a van, the Yeti was something you bought when you had no respect for yourself. This new one though is a nice as a Tiguan, if not nicer.

Now available in two design configurations, City and Outdoor, the Skoda Yeti facelift also boasts a wider range of engines+transmission configurations.

Design changes include a brand new grille design borrowed from the Rapid. Gone are the rounded lights, and in their place Skoda gives us crisp LED daytime running lights and in this case b-xenon headlights as well.

On the engine front, there isn't a new unit per say, but they have added start/stop across the range and increased the number of engine+drivetrain+transmission combinations. For example, until now, you could get DSG with the 2.0 TDI 4WD, but only with the lower 140 PS version, but now you can have it with the 170 PS unit as well. The front-wheel drive Yeti 1.6 TDI 77 kW is available with automatic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, whereas it only had a manual before. There's also a new Yeti GreenLine model, equipped with a 1.4 122 PS TSI, a manual gearbox and fitted as standard with brake energy recover and low rolling resistance tires.
