Spanish carmaker SEAT didn't just reveal their latest generation compact estate, the new Leon ST, but also two new powertrains in Frankfurt this year.
A new Ecomotive engine has just been launched, not only for the Leon ST, but also for the SC and 5-door. As we've seen with similar modes from Skoda, Audi and Volkswagen, this clean and efficient model is powered by a 1.6 TDI rated at 110 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Performance is similar as well: 0 to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds.

Fuel consumption can be as low as 3.3 liters per 100 km, giving the car a theoretical driving range of 940 miles. You can tell it's an Ecomotive model from the lowered ride height and slim tires, but since that's a question of fineccess, we'll be blunt and tell you it's the white car in the photos.

The other Leon ST is a new FR sports model, equipped with in this case with a 2.0 TDI engine good for 184 PS, but also available with a 1.8 TSI engine rated at 180 PS. You can tell it's the FR from the large wheels, double exhaust and... the FR badges.

Also announced in Frankfurt is a natural gas model called the Leon TGI, powered by a 1.4 turbo bi-fuel engine which only makes 110 PS compared to the usual 122 PS, but will give you lower running costs.

Of course, the Leon ST is an interesting car all on its own, even if you don't go for eco or cheap-to-run engines. The estate is quite sporty, being visually similar to the hatchbacks. The new Leon estate has 587 liters of boot space with the seats up or up to 1,470 liters with them down. It's available with a variety of engines shared with the Golf VII.
