Formula One VW Beetle Mashup Is Not As Fictional As You'd Think

You can say a ton of things about the Volkswagen Beetle, from the way in which it motorized Germany to the sometimes cheap humor connected to the relationship between the Bug and the Porsche 911.
However, not even the wildest of dreamer has dared to link the Beetle to Formula One. Well, that has now changed, and it's all thanks to the rendering above.

A work of digital artist Yasid Design, the mashup shows up what would happen if an F1 car and a VW Beetle would spend the night together at the pits. And we have to admit we're impressed.

Nevertheless, we're not here to talk about how awesome this pixel play is. Instead, we want to tell you that such a contraption doesn't necessarily need to remain confined to our desktops.

We want to remind you that the real world has already given us a somewhat similar four-wheeled creature, albeit one that's not as elaborate as the one we have here, but makes up for that with its even more unlikely nature.

We're talking about the 1930s Ford Model A Hot Rod with F1 elements, the one we showed you back in October last year.

Now, we mentioned the real deal is actually more twisted compared to the rendering and that's because it adds elements from a third realm, namely that of the Honda S2000.

The creature has the 9,000 rpm-capable engine from Honda's retired sportscar, while also featuring its digital dashboard.

We don't expect such mashups to suit every aficionado's taste and yet we can't help but admire their unconventional nature, especially since you might just come across such a beast while sitting at the traffic light.
