The factory officials have announced 2,500 temporary workers will stop work temporarily between this Friday, September 20th, and October 7th.
The following month, there will be another 13 days of production halt an local media says 38 days of shutdown will be announced for what's left of 2013. During this period, workers will receive 80% of base pay.
However, since demand for the EcoBoost engine family is at sky-high levels, the engine assembly line will continue at full pace.
"We're confident these are temporary measures and that the situation will improve as European vehicle sales will start to slowly recover," said Ford Romania spokesperson.
