Ford is doing well in emerging markets and one of their most reliable sources of sales growth has always been their Sollers venture in Russa. Thanks to the success of the new Focus and the Mondeo, both of which are built there, Ford saw a 30 percent increase in sales this year.
First quarter 2012 sales were mainly bolstered by the 19,596 Focus units that were delivered. This might very well be one of Russia’s go-to western cars built locally, as it was named Russian Car of the Year 2012 in its segment.
Sales of the Transit almost doubled, from 1,067 to 2,016 units, in the first quarter this year. With this, Ford is one of the leading importers of commercial vehicles in the country.
The best-selling fords in the first quarter of 2012 were the Mondeo with 3,014 units, the Fusion with 576 and the Kuga SUV (soon to be replaced) with 784.
