Waiting for the redesigned 2015 Mustang to be unveiled is probably the most difficult challenge musclecar enthusiasts have to endure since the 2014 Corvette arrived at the Detroit Auto Show. Ford knows it and does its best to keep things hot with all sorts of releases.
After announcing the “Mustang 50 Years” collection of commemorative products and launching the “Mustang Countdown” video series, Ford has released a digital version of the 1965 Mustang’s press kit. A collector’s item in its original printed form, the historic press kit can now be had at the click of a button on the company’s website.
Sure, you won’t find modern features such as the Ford SYNC, paddle shifters or Bluetooth connectivity, but it’s the perfect opportunity to virtually travel back in time with America’s most famed musclecar. Those of you that are old enough or very familiar with the Mustang’s history will notice the long-gone 260 cubic-inch V8 or the base 170 cubin inch inline-six engine.
How about a three-speed manual gearbox and 271 HP for the range-topping 289 cubic-inch V8 mill? Or maybe the Sports Console and Rally-Pac options that used to be offered almost 50 years ago.
Have a look at some of the press kit’s content in our photo gallery section below, but don’t forget to head over to Ford and download the complete sheet.
