Ford Promises "Groundbreaking" Car for 2011 Geneva

The 2011 Geneva Motor Show will be really important for US-based carmaker Ford, as the manufacturer intends to introduce an all-new vehicle which company officials say it will be "groundbreaking". Not much is known about what's hidden beyond the "groundbreaking" term, but voices familiar with the matter claim that this could be the B-Max model, a new project which is larger than the Fiesta and would help the company step into new vehicle classes.

Basically, the B-Max would compete with Honda Fit and maybe Kia Venga, but expect more new things from the car to really deserve the "groundbreaking" designation.

Back in December, a Ford of Europe spokesperson revealed that March 2011 will see the introduction of the new B-Mas concept which is very likely to go into production as B-Max. Furthermore, the Ford source said that the production model could be assembled in Craiova, Romania at the plant that currently builds the Transit Connect in passenger and van configurations.

There are many rumors regarding Ford's plans for the B segment, some people familiar with the matter claiming that the parent manufacturer intends to export 80 percent of the 150,000 units supposed to be manufactured at the Romanian plant.
