Ford GT Heritage Edition, 1 of 383, Crashes Hard in Brazil

Ford only built north of 5,000 units of the GT supercar, so seeing any of these involved in an accident would be painful. Alas, the crashed example in the adjacent images is a GT Heritage Edition, one of the only 383 units built.

The crash took place on Saturday, March 28th, in Brazil. Whiteness told the local media the 550 hp supercar was negotiating a wide bend at around 16:30 when the driver overcooked it and lost control.

It seems the 51-year old man behind the wheel lost the car into oversteer and managed to get it back, but by the time the rear end stopped sliding, the Ford was already facing an electricity pole, with an imminent impact.

As many of you know, the GT doesn’t come with electronic aids (besides ABS), so when the driver decided it was OK to hit the gas through that bend, he was alone in his 'power adventure'.

He was accompanied by his wife when the accident took place and fortunately they both managed to escape the crash unhurt. The man was tested for alcohol, with the result being negative.

Aside from seriously damaging the front end of this rare GT, the crash also knocked over a pole, leaving multiple blocks and local restaurants without electricity.

Returning to the Heritage Edition, the units that were given this blessing wear the iconic Gulf Oil livery, so it’s really, really hard to miss one on the street. The Blue Oval wanted to make sure the Prancing Horse remembers its Le Mans defeat back in the day. Basically, if you drive one of these (drive as in not crash it) it’s like you’re rolling in a motorized middle finger shown to Ferrari.
