Ford Focus RS Montune Upgrade Package Pricing Released

Ford has announced the pricing for the RS500 surrogate, the Montune Performance, Ford-approved Focus RS technical upgrade package.

The MP350 kit - which brings a warranty-keeping 45 hp and 20 Nm of torque premium for the 305 hp & 440 Nm mad hatch, matching the specs of the RS500 limited edition model - will initially only be available in the UK and will retail for 1,995 pounds, including VAT.

The product’s story is anything but simple: Ford announced that it would introduce an extreme version of the Focus RS that would offer 350 hp, teasing enthusiasts through a dedicated website. The manufacturer decided to release the official pictures of the car 48 hours before it was scheduled, to avoid an imminent leaking threat.

The action caused a powerful shock wave: hot hatch fanatics only needed 12 hours to reserve all the 500 units of the limited edition. Actually, over 500 offers came from the UK only, but the country only received 101 units of the vehicle.

As a result, Ford decide to co-develop the aforementioned package, offering it as a medicine for the RS500 virus.

The MP350 RS upgrade comprises of a larger intercooler, a high performance air filter, larger diameter exhaust downpipe and a high capacity fuel pump. It also includes an Engine Control Unit remap.

"Focus RS500 has raised the Ford performance bar in every way – it’s the fastest-selling model in Ford’s UK history, with five times more customers than we had cars for. The MP350 kit has been developed to meet some of this additional demand and allow enthusiasts with cars in standard tune to enjoy even greater performance, without endangering their warranty. If you couldn’t get an RS500, this is the next best thing,” said Mark Simpson, Ford Britain marketing director.
