It’s difficult to talk about a driver’s abilities judging by the car around him, but, generally speaking, the guys and gals who use Mk I Ford Focus RS models know what they’re doing.
It doesn’t make sense to buy one of these Blue Oval machines if you’re not into FWD tail-out shenanigans. Bragging rights? You have to be kidding, non-car people will look at you and see an old Ford with a crappy interior.
However, this doesn’t mean that Focus RS drivers don’t fall too deep into hot hatch trance at times. The latest example comes from the Nurburgring, where a Mk I recently put on a quite spinning show.
The Ford had a serious portion of grass for lunch during a recent Touristenfahrten session, and it’s all been captured in the footage below.
This is the kind of clip where you hear the car coming before you get the chance to catch a glimpse of it. Then again, when this Focus RS enters the bend while on full opposite lock, it’s hard not to focus on the aural side of the experience.
The guy quickly prepares the RS for returning to the track, but waits for the other cars to pass before exiting the scene.
We have to admit this is one fast driving episode that could’ve brought serious consequences, for both the driver and the car. Fortunately, the only damage recorded probably had to do with the tires, so now that the smoke has lifted, things are back to Nordschleife normal.

The most intense part of the action sees the car going from slip angle to spin angle
Once the driver realizes he’s overcooked it, he decides to step on the brakes. This obviously causes the car to spin, with the Ford entering the Greenest part of Hell. The guy quickly prepares the RS for returning to the track, but waits for the other cars to pass before exiting the scene.
