Ford Focus Electric Getting $4,000 Discount
According to The Detroit News, the Ford Focus Electric will be $4,000 cheaper for the 2014 model year, with the revised base price down from $39,200 to $35,200. Even though Ford claims the lower price will keep the Focus EV competitive in the marketplace, the Blue Oval-badged vehicle is still more than $6,000 above the Nissan Leaf.
However, the Focus Electric can be acquired with only $27,700 once the $7,500 federal tax credit is applied, while costumers living in California will save another $2,500 in state credits for a final price of $25,200.
In other related news, Chevrolet is also offering a $4,000 discount for the Volt EV, which brings the price tag down to $35,995. Also, the company is willing to offer an additional $1,000 discount to customers that can prove they’re leasing a non-GM vehicle.
