Our friend Jay from Indian Cars Bikes brought a very interesting subject to our attention. Apparently, an ad company working for Ford in India produced but most likely didn’t publish some very controversial prints, two of which show women tied up in the boot of the car.
Here’s something you don’ see every day! At least that’s what we though when we first saw them, but sexy stuff always helps sell, especially cars, even though on second thought being tied up by Silvio Berlusconi doesn’t sound all that sexy.
The ads created for the Figo hatchback have caused so much controversy in India that Ford has had to issue this apology: "We deeply regret this incident and agree with our agency partners that it should have never happened. The posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford and our agency partners. Together with our partners, we are reviewing approval and oversight processes to help ensure nothing like this ever happens again."
This is a touchy time to use any kind of violence against women, since India has just passed anti-rape legislation in order to stop a national problem.
