Ford Fiesta Coupe in the Works. Is This The New Puma?

With the new Fiesta experiencing a remarkable success wherever it is available, Ford is getting ready to push the car towards the next level: a 2-door coupe that will be similar to the popular Puma which was discontinued in 2001. The Fiesta Coupe will obviously share a lot of parts with the regular Fiesta, but will be slightly different, especially at the rear where the 2-door architecture changed the bulky appearance of the car.

According to autoexpress.co.uk, most of the parts, including the engines, currently available on the Fiesta will make their way on the 2-door coupe. Thus, we'll have a 1.4-liter gasoline unit generating 95 bhp for the base version, as well as 1.6-liter petrol 118 bhp and two diesels, 1.4- and 1.6-liter TDCi, for the rest of the range.

Additionally, a more advanced powerplant, a 1.6-liter unit developing 178 bhp, might be also available. It is expected to join the C-MAX range and the new-generation Focus in the near future, with the 2-door Fiesta likely to get it as well.

Inside, the car will be basically the same with the Fiesta but will still boast a bunch of things to make the difference between the 2- and the 4-door models. The sportiness will be mostly noticeable through the sport seats and the restyled steering wheel. There will be enough room for four passengers but in the rear the car would accommodate only two small adults or kids, the aforementioned source wrote.

Details are, as you can see, still in the rumor stage so, in case Ford will indeed roll out such a model, official specifications should arrive in the near future.
