Ford F-Series Tops US Sales Charts for 2012
However, the number only makes up a small fraction of the entire number of vehicles sold Stateside last year, which rose to 14.5 million units in total - a 13% increase over the 2011 figures. It is also the best year, in terms of sales, since 2007.
Back to pickup trucks, as the second best-selling vehicle in the States last year was another such model - the Chevy Silverado, which shifted a very impressive 418,312 units. In third place, we finally have an actual passenger car, in the form of the Toyota Camry, which sold 404,886 units in total.
Next up are two Honda models: the Accord, and the Civic. The former sold a total of 331,872 units, while the latter came just under, at 317,909 units sold. Honda nabbed another key market sector (compact SUVs/crossover), where its CR-V beat Ford’s Escape by just under 20,000 units, and ended up selling 281,652 in total.
The growth trend is expected to continue in 2013, and it is even expected to pick up pace, and analysts project a figure of 15% to 15.5%.
