Ford C-Max Facelift Unveiled, Will Premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October

After the carparazzi spotted test mules of the new C-Max in the last few months and then Ford teased it two days ago, the updated compact multi-purpose vehicle has now been fully revealed. Both the C-Max and its bigger brother with seven seats called the Grand C-Max get visual and mechanical changes.
The most important aesthetic change, the one that hits you first, is the redesigned front fascia with oh too much Aston Martin to it. But that's not really a bad thing, you know. Even the lower black plastic radiator grille has been modernized, along with the fog light clusters. The striking bi-xenon headlights get a cleaner, sharper design, and incorporate LED daytime running lights for a little more visual drama.

Just as the new S-Max, both the Ford C-Max and Grand C-Max facelift adopt the neat Hands-Free Tailgate feature that debuted on the Ford Escape, as well as the Sync2 connectivity system we've first seen on the 2015 model year Focus. Though the rear received a mildly revised bumper design and new tail lights, the rear end of the C-Max isn't that different from the one of the outgoing model. In terms of cabin features, there's an 8-inch media screen that lets you control pretty much any gizmo onboard, including the Wi-Fi hotspot and satellite navigation system.

The new touchscreen display also deletes many hard buttons that overkilled the dashboard design of the pre-facelift Ford C-Max. A heated steering wheel and load-net fitting points behind the front and second row of seats are also offered. Though slightly bigger and with two more seats than its lil' brother, the Grand C-Max adopts sliding rear doors like those of the Ford B-Max. Being a family-oriented vehicle, the C-Max is also laden with passive and active safety systems.

In addition to the plethora of airbags, customers now benefit from the likes of Active City Stop, Active Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and Perpendicular Parking system. Slated to arrive in European showrooms early next year, the 2015 Ford C-Max and Grand C-Max will be offered with a choice of turbocharged powerhouses. The range starts with a 1.5-liter TDCi oil burner with 120 PS on tap, continuing with a reworked 2-liter TDCi with either 140 or 163 PS. The three-pot 1-liter EcoBoost is offered as well, with 100 or 125 PS, but there's more power coming from the 1.5-liter EcoBoost, which is offered with 150 or 180 PS. Start & stop? Yup, the updated C-Max has that too.

“These powertrains will also help make C-MAX the first car in its segment to comply with the latest EU Stage VI emissions regulations across the entire range from launch,” explains Jim Baumbick, Ford’s global C-car vehicle line director. “C-MAX and Grand C-MAX deliver a more relaxing experience with chassis and interior enhancements and, with sophisticated driver assistance technologies,” Baumbick added. “The ability to see more clearly in challenging conditions, to detect potential accidents and to keep less experienced drivers safe provide additional assurance and reduce stress for drivers whether at the wheel or not.”
