Flying Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Strips in Violent Spa 24H Crash

Braking and steering at the same time has always been too much for tires to handle and while there are plenty of techniques to help drivers overcome this issue, when the rear brakes lock, there's not much one can do to save the day.

Such a braking system issue seems to have been the cause of the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo crash seen in the video at the bottom of the page. The accident took place earlier this week, during the qualifying phase for this weekend's 24 Hours of Spa race.

The unfortunate adventure seen here is part of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe, a support series for the main race.

We can see the driver moving into the bend on the aggressive racing line, with everything going haywire once he steps on the brakes. The racecar's rear end comes loose and, despite the steering wheel bearer's best efforts, the Racing Bull went spinning towards the protection barrier on the side of the track.

The hefty speed of the Lambo meant the track-confined machine bounced off the protection element, getting a bit of air time as it skids across the track. Alas, the episode didn't end here, with the Huracan ending up hitting the barrier on the other side of the circuit with its side. In the process, the motorsport beast lost plenty of body parts.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page allows us to get a good look at the crash, adding slow-motion scenes to ensure viewers cam keep track of the Lamborghini's violent spins.

This weekend will see no less than 50 Huracan Super Trofeo LP620-2 racecars lining up at the start of the Blancpain Super Trofeo's fourth European 2016 round. And yes, this is a new record for what can be described as the heftiest spec racing series.
