Fisker Production Has Been Paused for the Last Six Months
To make matters worse for the automaker, their battery supplier A123 Systems Inc. went bankrupt, and has only now just been purchased by China's Wanxiang, though production of battery packs is still halted. This means that none have been delivered to the Valmet factory, in Finalnd, where the Karma is assembled.
All these problems combined, including the insurance company which is refusing to pay for the lost 300 Karmas, as well as their as of yet unsuccessful search for a strategic partner, have meant that Fiskar has not built a single car in six months.
They have managed to deliver some 2,000 Karmas since the car was launched in 2011, but due to the Department of Energy blocking access to a $529 million loan, it will probably remain their only model, as development of the smaller Atlantic has been stopped (will probably be launched in 2014 or 2015).
