The M2 is like one of those short but powerful weight lifters. In fact, it comes from a family of cars with dense fibers packed into tiny packages. We've seen plenty of 1M Coupe engine swaps, so why not one that targets 2016's most coveted machine.
Under the hood of Manhart's insane project is the S55, a 3-liter high-revving mill normally found in the M3 and M4. The BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology comprises two mono-scroll turbochargers, High Precision Direct Injection and... 630 horsepower? That can't be right.
You've got to admire the tenacity of these German tuners. After installing the M4 engine, they had a 431 PS machine. But they didn't stop there, or at 500, or at 560, which is the power of the M6. Instead, they gave the smallest BMW coupe more power than the biggest one.
The way this thing breaks traction kind of reminds us of old-school Brabus Rocket projects. It's clear that the tires can't handle that much grunt off the line, but when has that ever stopped the tuners.
And we haven't even gotten to the best bit. The styling and the attention to detail is insane. I mean the exterior kind of looks like an Aston Martin V12 Vantage, thanks to that paint. By the way, it's Sunburst Gold Metallic, an official BMW Individual color. Carbon fiber and black mix together nicely to define the MH2 630.
We don't yet know what the car cost to build or how many they plan to make, if nay. For now, there's only one that was built to celebrate Manhart's anniversary. But you'll be glad to know that the company can tune even an M235i to produce as much power as the M3.
