Ford has begun the early stages of development for the upcoming facelift of the Tourneo Courier model.
Our spy photographers were on the job and caught the base vehicle for the next prototype as it was being driven through Germany between two facilities of the Blue Oval.

Ford did not bother too much to conceal the look of this vehicle because it will modify it before launching the facelifted version, which is expected to come to market in 2018.

However, the car in the photo gallery does have a bit of camouflage on it, and it is focused on the front end. The grille is concealed with yellow tape, but it does not seem to be changed in comparison to the production model.

The hood has white vinyl on it, but its shape does not appear to be different, which is something that will change once it enters a workshop that will build the prototype based on it.

For those of you oblivious to what a Ford Tourneo Courier is, here’s a quick guide. It is the smallest utilitarian vehicle designed to carry people offered in the Blue Oval’s portfolio. The current model is built on a modified version of the ongoing Fiesta platform, which is set to receive a new generation.

The idea behind a car like this is that it can be used for a professional that runs and owns a small business, but also needs to carry their family around. The Courier name that comes as a suffix signifies the fact that this is the “crew” version of the Ford Tourneo.

If clients desire a vehicle that only carries freight and is also compact, the Transit Courier and Transit Connect come into play. The Tourneo range also has a Connect version, on top of the Courier, and the former provides more interior room because it can fit up to seven passengers.

Meanwhile, the Tourneo Courier only comes in a five-seat configuration, but focuses on providing plenty of space for its occupants and their luggage.
