The new Renault Clio is supposed to be an upscale proposition, not to mention a move into a sort of premium market for the French carmaker. The car was originally expected to debut later today, but already the first photo has surfaced via the model selector on the official website via Carscoop.

The body of the new Clio seems to be more curvatious than ever, with a dominating swoop at the bottom of the door. The headlights are also huge and are connected by a new grille design. Both front and rear wheel arches are muscular and strong, and so it the rakish shape of the windscreen.

The Clio 4 will also feature two new turbocharged engines - the 0.9 TCe, a three-cylinder with 90 PS, and the 1.2 TCe, which will offer 115 PS. but perhaps the biggest change will be the fact that the Clio RS will be offered with a 1.6-liter turbo and as a five-door car.

Look for the full debut of the new Renault Clio later in the day.
