You might be tempted to say that you saw this car already competing in those Japanese GT series, where it also debuted with a victory. You might be a bit confused them, because this is not the Lexus RC F GT500, but the RC F GT3 version, and one of the first units have been already spotted in Japan.
Both of these Stormtroopers made their debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show in their concept form. But while the RC F GT500 already started racing, the GT3 counterpart is still under testing, following to enter competition in 2015.

Since its debut in Tokyo, the RC F GT3 almost disappeared from our radar, but luckily, Japanese publication Auto Sport spotted one of its first track versions being shipped somewhere for further testing.

The racecar was carefully strapped into a big trailer and off it went, with rumors that three units will also be introduced in the Japanese GT300 series.

To differentiate the RC F GT3 from the GT500 version, you’ll firstly need to study its shape - the GT3 is basically the road-going RC F with a wide-bodykit, while the GT500 version is based more on the Lexus LF-CC concept car; it’s hood is less bulged and it has two huge air inlets sculpted in it.

Another big difference between the two racecars is their engines - due to new regulations, the RC F GT500 is powered by a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine making somewhere around 500 horsepower.

The RC F GT3 on the other hand is powered by an upgraded version of its road-going V8 engine, making over 540 hp and mated to an 8-speed gearbox controlled via steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
