First F12 Berlinetta in US Auctioned for $1.125 Million
The winning big belonged to Larry Roth from Long Island, who was more than happy to pay about 3 times as much as the car was worth, since the money would go to the Red Cross of Central Texas to support victims of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.
Besides this sum, “Ferrari dealers, clients and friends” donated an additional $345,000 for hurricane victim support, bringing the total to $1.5 million.
Mr Roth will have to wait until the second quarter of 2013 to take delivery of his F12 Berlinetta. His car is the replacement for the 599 GTB Fiorano, and also the most powerful road-going model in the company's history.
At the heart of the beast, he’ll find the latest 6.2-liter V12 engine, producing 730 hp (740 PS) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque. The F12 reaches 62 mph in 3.1 seconds and tops out at 211 mph (340 km/h).
