First BMW Z4 GT3 Race Cars Delivered

Shortly after the official launch and test drives took place a couple of weeks ago, the first BMW Z4 GT3 cars have been delivered to private BMW teams, BMW announced yesterday. The teams will further prepare the cars for use in various national and international championships.

The FIA GT approved BMW Z4 GT3 joins the BMW M3 GT2, the BMW 320si WTCC and the BMW M3 GT4 cars in the German carmaker’s motorsport division lineup.

"The feedback on the BMW Z4 GT3 is extremely positive," BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen, said in a release. "This sports car rounds off our product range, and offers drivers and teams the opportunity to compete in championships in accordance with the GT3 regulations - such as the FIA GT3 European Championship, the International GT Open or the ADAC GT Masters - as well as at 24-hour endurance races."

The GT version of the Z4 comes equipped with a 4.0l V8 engine usually found on the M3, capable of developing 480 horsepower. All this power is controlled via a six-speed sequential transmission with a "Quick Shift" function.

Teams interested in purchasing the BMW Z4 GT3 have to know that driver assistance systems such as racing ABS and traction control, a redesigned front axle with a tubular stabilizer bar and adjustable blades, a roll cage, and rims with central locking and safety clips are also included in the price.

“As with all cars in the BMW customer racing range, the emphasis was also put on cost-efficiency when developing the BMW Z4 GT3. As a result, the car offers a very good cost/performance ratio and gives private teams the opportunity to participate in affordable motorsport at the highest level,”
the company statement reads.

The BMW Z4 GT3 is available as a racing car for 298,000 Euros (plus VAT).
