Please excuse the potato quality of the photos in the gallery below, but this is the first ever totaled Mustang from the 2015 model year S550 breed. It may appear at first as your ordinary frontal crash situation, where the structural damage eclipses the cosmetic one, but we do have a burning curiosity.
Without further ado, why did the airbags didn’t deploy? The only shot depicting the dashboard doesn’t show any signs of deployment whatsoever - no driver’s airbag, not even the industry-first active glovebox knee airbag on the front passenger's side. And “the impact wasn’t violent enough” excuse does not apply because that’s no 15 mph crash there.

Just look at how catastrophic the front end looks. Don’t mind the bumper, you should focus on that metal beam that’s been forced into the engine bay. Such structural damage renders a car unregistrable in the US. By the way, this Triple Yellow pony shows a mere 469 miles on the clock and it’s a V6 model.

It appears that the car has been crashed in Dallas, Texas recently, yet it’s already listed for auction by the IAAI's Wichita, Kansas branch. Enterprise Vehicle Exchange 51 Edmond appears to be the seller. Funny enough, even the IAAI online listing says all four airbags of the 2015 Mustang are in “intact” condition.

If our two cents were on the table, we would bet the man or woman that will buy the unusable wreck for pennies at auction will do so for one reason only - to salvage some of its body panels, cabin trim, the infotainment system and gearbox, then make a small profit off those components on eBay.
