Representatives from the FIM and Dorna WSBK paid Erik Buell Racing a visit in late January.
It was about more than coffee and cookies, as the sporting officials arrived at the EBR plant in East Troy, Wisconsin wanted to verify whether Erik Buell managed to produce enough bikes to be allowed a WSBK entry.
Charles Hennekam, FIM Technical Coordinator and Motorcycle Homologation Officer and Gregorio Lavilla, Dorna WSBK Sporting Director met brand founder Erik Buell, and he showed them around, production line included.
Factory officials provided relevant proof that the minimum requirements were already met, so the FIM and Dorna WSBK officially confirmed that Team Hero EBR was clear to debut in the 2014 Superbike series at Phillip Island, Australia, on February 23.
Unfortunately Bimota did not make it to Oz.
