Fiat Records Excellent Sales in Spain
Top on Spanish car buyers’ list is Fiat’s most appreciated car of the lineup, the 500 (which has received a boost, thanks to an ad involving fellow Spaniard, Fernando Alonso), of which 734 were sold in June alone, as well as the Panda which came close, with 689 units shifted last month. To further boost the Italian group’s appeal and sales, fellow group partner, Lancia is also on a roll, as the 222 cars sold in June mark a 66.9% increase, when compared to the same period of 2011. Leading the Lancia offensive is the Ypsilon supermini which sold well in June (100 cars shifted), as well as in the first six months (560 cars sold). With a total sales figure of 1,111 from January to June, Lancia’s sales have risen considerably, by a whopping 91.9% versus last year’s performance.
Of the Fiat group, Alfa Romeo is the only manufacturer who didn’t register an improvement in sales, in fact, the opposite happened, as the 2049 cars sold since Jaunary mark a 27.9% decrease when compared to the same time span of 2011. Of the Alfas, Spaniard preferred the Giulietta (and who would blame them?) which sold 366 units up until June.
