Fiat Punto Evo Facelift Bound for India

Don't get fooled by the Evo in its name. The Fiat Punto is virtually the same car even if fancy names are slapped to the nameplate on certain markets, but the little Italian hatchback is the oldest geezer in its segment. So what does this India-only facelift bring new to the 9-year-old model?

Those sweptback headlights do look like they have been lifted from a Kia Cee'd. You wouldn't believe how Fiat India is calling these new clusters - "reindeer headlamps." The brochure description is even more funny: "Fresh from the future, the Punto Evo always has its eyes on what lies ahead. Thoughtfully styled Reindeer Headlamps" and the tacky marketing jibber-jabber goes on and on and on...

Dear Fiat India, it's the year 2014 and the marketing world is way more polished and versatile than the 1990s lesson you've given us with that description. Sincerely, everyone. Moving on, we dig the sporty looking radiator grilles, but the rest of the front fascia leaves us somewhat cold and wanting more snazz.

The botox needle also operated at the rear, where the 2015 Fiat Punto Evo gets clearer tail lamps and trapezoidal fog lights which are traversed by a horizontal bar of shiny polished chrome. On the inside, there's nothing really new to report expect for a nearly identical dashboard design with the Fiat Linea sedan, as well as a handful of new color combos.

When it will go on sale in India, the 2015 Fiat Punto Evo will be available with a standard five-speed manual transmission coupled to four engine choices. The entry-level mill is a 1.2-liter gasoline with only 68 PS, while the largest petrol engine displaces 1.4 liters and churns out 90 PS. For added fuel economy, customers can opt for a 1.3-liter MultiJet turbo diesel, that can be had with either 76 or 93 PS.
