Fiat Mio Concept Previewed Ahead of Brazil Debut

The crowd-sourced car concept from Fiat Brazil has started to get shape, as it is scheduled for unveiling at the International Automobile Fair in Sao Paulo this October. Dubbed Fiat Mio (My Fiat), the concept is, in fact, a two-seater city car with a huge moulded windscreen that wraps around the side of the vehicle.

Fiat Brazil started the project a year ago and has only 71 days left to bring the Fiat Mio to reality in time for the show. However, the design team still has a lot of details to work on, and a lot of ideas to choose from.

So far, since the launch of the dedicated online hub, there have been more than 11,000 ideas submitted and a registered community of almost 17,000 members. Fiat Mio falls under the Creative Commons License, allowing participants to own their contributions, but for the community to distribute, modify and share their ideas.

Details that are still sketchy at this point include the type of electric engine to be used, the infotainment system, gadget integration, navigational tools, the final materials used in the body, driving aids and onboard biometry.

As for the design elements, the specialists at Fiat Style Center have narrowed them down to a few options, such as the possible steering wheel, interface and gear shift solutions, or the mechanism for the doors (here there are three options proposed: conventional, inverse opening, and each door open in a different direction).
