Fiat Becomes Top Sponsor of Italian Football Team

Fiat is showing the Freemont everywhere! Yesterday, we told you that the vehicle will be used for Italy’s 150th Anniversay. Now, it is time to report that the company recently announced that it will be the top sponsor of the Italian National Football Team and the Five a Slide Team for the next four years.

Fiat will provide a fleet of vehicles, which will include the Freemont, for transport to official matches, friendlies and training, for the national football team’s staff. In fact, the Freemont, the first fruit of the partnership between Fiat and the Chrysler Group, has become the Azzuri’s Official Car.

FIat’s connection to the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC, the Italian Football Federation) dates back to 2000, when the carmaker became the Federation’s Technical Partner. The new development means that Fiat will accompany the Azzuri to Euro 2012 in Poland and to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The agreement between Fiat Group Automobiles and the FIGC demonstrates the Group’s intention to link its name to an excellent sporting organisation with international fame. The agreement also allows Fiat to use the title “Official Car” of Italian National Team: this is the perfect end to a journey begun over a century ago and which has always seen Fiat and Italy together in the social, industrial and cultural evolution of Italy,” a company statement reads.
