FIA Formula E Teased - EV Racer Gets Driven Through Rome

We previously reported that Rome would be one of the European cities hosting one of the legs of the FIA Formula E, or ‘E-Prix’. Well, we now have an official teaser for the Italian race, which involves the actual all-electric single-seater racer being driven through the cobbled streets of the city.
The car seen in the video is currently the only prototype in existence, and it has been in development for the last two years. However, 42 more vehicles have now been ordered, and McLaren has been chosen as builder of the powertrains.

Rome is slated as a sure thing, for the inaugural E-Prix championship, which is perfectly suited for city courses, as the cars are totally silent and do not pollute, therefor making them excellent platforms for the promotion of commercial EVs, and the need to replace conventional cars with cleaner alternatives.

Once the championship is underway, we may start to see an exponential rise in the popularity of EVs in Europe, as thousands of people will witness these silent racers being driven hard, and wonder why they never though about EVs before...
