The Nurburgring season might be about to end, but it seems big Nordschleife news is still coming and we're here to deliver the latest example of this, one that takes us into the heart of the Ferrari world.

In fact, we should've said the twin-turbo heart of the Maranello realm, as we're dealing with the Ferrari 488 GTB here. As Prancing Horse fans among you know, the Italians aren't all that friendly to instrumented tests, but the latest Sport Auto test saw the German publication taking the 488 to the Ring.

The piece of footage below allows us to see the boosted 458, is we may call it so, flying from one Green Hell vibrator to another in spectacular fashion. The result? The 488 GTB managed to set a lap time of 7:21.63.

So, how does the 488 stack up against other supercars? Well, if we are to compare it to the 458 it replaces, we'll mention the latter needs 7:28 to go round the infamous German track.

However, we must keep in mind that while the said publication is a respected source when it comes to setting real world lap times, these values obviously differ from the ones carmakers deliver and there are multiple reasons for that.

For instance, certain automakers make monumental efforts to ensure the best possible times are achieved - for instance, when Porsche set the production car Nurburgring lap record with the 918 Spyder, the 6:57 time was achieved by asking three separate drivers to do their best and selecting the most valuable result.

Regardless, the Sport Auto 488 GTB test also includes a Hockenheimring lap, with this showing up in the final part of the clip. However, we'll treat this in a separate story, (coming later today), one that also involves a McLaren 675 Longtail real world comparison.

P.S.: As you'll be able to see the Nurburgring webcam screenshots (found in the gallery to your right) the Green Hell is currently covered in snow. So while the 2016 seasons has not officially ended, stopwatch play time is impossible.

UPDATE:Here's the promissed 488 GTB vs. 675 LT Hockenheim comparo.
