One of Abu Dhabi’s main attractions is the Ferrari World amusement park, which is renowned for its world’s fastest roller coaster. Formula One drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso recently took a ride with it, but it would seem the feeling of acceleration to 240 km/h (150 mph) in under 5 seconds wasn’t that impressive.
After all, they are F1 professional drivers, so they're pretty accustomed to so many Gs. Dubai was always about the extravagant and when it comes to having fun, they want to be the best. This is why four years ago they opened a 86,000-square meter (861,112 sq. ft.) amusement park on Yas Island.
There are a lot of attractions, including a Ferrari collection gallery, a grand old Italian theatre, some state-of-the-art racing simulations and an incredible in-park go-kart track.
However, one of the most popular attractions in the amusement park is by far The Thrill of Rosso. The park’s owner claims it's the world’s fastest roller coaster. It’s capable of reaching 240 km/h (150 mph) in less than 5 seconds and will take its riders all the way to a violent 4.8Gs.
Formula One drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso recently took a ride with it as they launched 52 meters (170 foot) in the sky before flying through chicanes inspired by some of the world’s most famous race tracks.
“Cross the finish line with an adrenaline rush worthy of a Grand Prix – screams of joy and excitement can be heard from the other side of the park”, the ride is described on the amusement park’s website.
Well, it wasn’t about screaming for the two professional racers who seemed quite relaxed as they enjoyed the ride. Still, it’s kind of fun to watch them so we figured we’d share the video with you guys.
