Just as Tesla's future seems to hang in the balance due to the Autopilot crashes, Eva Longoria takes to Instagram to announce her new ride. Yeah, you guessed it, it's the Tesla Model X.
To be honest, this in interesting on many levels. At the same time as Tesla brought out the Model X, Bentley introduced the Bentayga SUV. We are talking about old-time class and fine luxury. Yet it's the car of the future that everyone wants to own, not the Bentley. The Model X's charm lies in a combination of speed, technology, and image.

Last time we checked, the star of Desperate Housewives had bought a Tesla Model S after having owned Escalades, G-Wagons, and Range Rovers. Considering all those get mpg numbers into the tens, maybe she began to feel guilty.

If you can afford to spend over $100,000 on any car, adopting an EV is a much more pleasant thing to do. Range anxiety is not an issue if the battery of the Model X is being used for the daily wheatgrass run. So, two years after the S comes the X, a crossover that's based on the same technology.

It used to be the case that celebrities buying EVs were a rare thing, but there are lots of Hollywood A-listers who own a Tesla, including other members of the Desperate Housewives cast.

As worried as we are about the fact that the Model X might drive Eva off a cliff, we can't help wonder about the tax rebate. I mean, what's the point of giving $7,500 to people who are this rich just because they want to do their part for the environment? And shouldn't it be illegal to own two Teslas at once due the environmental impact of the batteries?

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
