The Black Shadow Edition and the Blue Edition; those are the names of what the Ford Motor Company has prepared for the European Mustang. Those two will be offered exclusively in LHD, which means that the UK, Ireland, and Cyprus will be missing out.
Before anything, it should be noted that both special editions are gifted with SYNC 3 infotainment (at last!), heated and cooled front seats, the best audio system available in the Mustang, sat nav, and premium leather upholstery.
As per Roelant de Waard, the vice president of marketing, sales, and service at Ford of Europe, the Mustang “has no trouble standing out on European roads, and with the new Ford Mustang Black Shadow Edition and Blue Edition models, Mustang drivers will be turning even more heads.”
For the V8-only Mustang Black Shadow Edition, the Blue Oval offers customers with multiple choices: 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, as well as no less that four exterior colors. The pictured model, which is painted in Platinum White, is joined by Triple Yellow, Race Red, and Grabber Blue finishes. As the name implies, black dominates various parts of this car, including the Y-spoke 19-inch wheels, hood sand body-side stripes, and the 5.0 badges on the front wings.
The Mustang Blue Edition pays tribute to the distinctive color introduced by the 1969 Shelby GT350 and GT500. Available to order with either the 421 PS 5.0-liter V8 or the 317 PS 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-4, the Blue can be specced with either a stick or a slushbox. On the visual front, the eye-catching paintwork is enhanced by black go-faster and body-side stripes.
On that note, the Euro-spec Mustang V8 isn’t as powerful as the pony Ford sells in the United States. That’s due to a number of reasons, but most importantly, performance isn’t too shabby. With 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) doable in 4.8 seconds, the Mustang V8 is one-tenth of a second quicker than the Volkswagen Golf R and one tenth slower than the Focus RS. The EcoBoost model, on the other hand, will hit 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.
