Rick Dore is one of the most resounding names in the hotrod world, his creations having ended up in numerous magazines, on the grounds of showrooms and in private collections. But probably one of his best creations is this ultra low roadster here for sale called the “Golden Era”.
Built in the 1960’s style, which is also known as the Golden Era of hotrodding, Rick’s work here is based on a 1926 Ford Model T, which got it’s wheelbase extended, now measuring 106 inches, and got lowered to the point you could barely go over a speed bump.
Of course, no one sane in his minds will take the “Golden Era” out for a spin on a daily basis. You wouldn’t want a scratch on that perfect Melon pearl exterior finish or on the immaculate white interior leather upholstery, would you?
Power comes from a 351-cubic inch Ford V8 engine cranking 325 hp, which is mated to Ford C-4 automatic transmission and a nine-inch rear axle with a 3.73 gearing which you can see by opening the trunk lid. Those traditional Lakester exhausts have also been capped and re-routed towards the rear of the car to keep the paint in good condition.
The exquisite hotrod got purchased shortly after it was built in August 2006 by John O’Quinn. It went on the pages of Street Rodder magazine the same year and then found its way into the Sam Pack Collection several years later.
It’s scheduled to go under the hammer on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 on the behalf of RM Auctions, hoping to get sold for at least $60,000 (€48,000).
