E.ON Goes Eco With Fleet of 340 Ford Fiesta ECOnetics
This massive contract is impressive considering the Fiesta is already three years old but still a good product, and comes hot on the heals of that massive Focus delivery for the AA driving schools. What’s more the decision to go with the Fiesta is based on efficiency and lower CO2 output of the model that can stretch a gallon fuel for as much as 78 miles, while also putting out only 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
E.ON is one of the UK’s largest power and gas companies and is among the leading providers of green power in the UK. It operates a fleet of some 4,100 cars and light commercials, 64 per cent of which are Ford vehicles. Ford has been part of the E.ON fleet for over 20 years.
"We have had good feedback from the drivers of our Ford Fiestas, and the lower CO2 emissions of the new Fiesta ECOnetic models will help us deliver on our lower emissions policy as well as providing reduced fuel consumption. As a company we have an overall fleet CO2 reduction target of 40 per cent by the year 2020, having achieved reductions exceeding 10 per cent a year, since 2008. We are expecting these Ford cars to further help in achieving our goal," said Nina Hughes, Fleet Development Manager, Business Services.
