Back in November 2010, Toyota used the LA Motor Show to introduce the RAV 4 EV concept, with the vehicle receiving positive reactions from the public. Subsequently, the vehicle, which uses an electric powertrain supplied by Tesla, was brought to other auto events and the unofficial information about the production version started arriving. Now, Tesla CEO Elon musk confirms that the car will hit the marker next year.
According to autocar, the tie-up between the two automotive producers is making progress, with Tesla gaining manufacturing experience from Toyota and offering the Japanese its EV expertise.

Tesla now owns the former Toyota/GM NUMMI plant in California, where it will build its EVs, but Toyota chose to only have the former company assemble the battery packs and drivetrains, with the car set to be brought to life by Toyota itself in Canada.

Tesla is looking to stay independent, but collaborate with large automotive producers on other future EV projects.
