Electric Renault Twingo Early Details
Details are obviously in the very early stage but it appears that the car will be sold for around 13,000 pounds (more than 15,000 euros) and will represent Renault's reply to Vauxhall's Trixx.
The car will feature some parts from the Be Bop ZE concept unveiled earlier this year and will be powered by an electric engine with an advanced battery pack likely to provide a range of up to 100 miles on each charge. Recharging the battery takes up to four hours in case it is fully depleted. Obviously, it will feature several energy saving technologies, including a regenerative braking system and high-performance insulation.
There will be no alternative fuel version available, autocar.co.uk wrote citing the same report.
As for the engine performance, the electric unit will develop a maximum power of 59 bhp, allowing the car to sprint from a naught to sixty in 10 seconds. The maximum speed will go around 80 mph (129 km/h).
Renault will also debut an innovative method to keep the price at the lowest possible level and also allow electric Twingo owners to improve the overall driving range. Called "Quick Drop", the scheme allows electric Twingo owners to replace a drained battery with a fully recharged one at every Renault dealer.
